That is, it&#039;s &lt;b&gt;not&lt;/b&gt; my viewpoint at all that diet makes one impervious to flu (or even heart attacks).  Sure, it helps, and makes you feel good besides, but it strikes me as arrogant to claim it grants near perfect immunity.   

I always hope for their sake they are right, that they do indeed shrug it off, live long, and prosper.  But, as I wrote, you won&#039;t catch me declaring it for myself.</description>

There are other factors, both known and unknown that go into the equation of long life, such as stress reduction/management, exercise, adequate sleep, good genes, etc. One can abide by all the rules, but still get caught by some nasty virus or other little beastie.  But having decent nutrition goes a long way to a good immune system.</description>
