after just 12 days on raw food?

Of course, we all understand how maintaining a low fat, vegan diet for any appreciable length of time can vastly improve one’s health. What’s even more impressive is that significant reductions in cholesterol and blood pressure can be achieved after a mere twelve days!

This video from the BBC’s educational series The Truth About Food tells the story of a short experiment in which the participants agreed to consume only raw fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds (all the while, living in a ZOO for dramatic effect ). In less than two weeks…

Amazing results in such a short space of time. It is a real shame that doctors are not getting people to eat healthier. But rather asking people as a first choice to go on medication. In the UK the NHS is a free health care system and is struggling because of the rise in disease. It’s so amazing that the solution is simple, especially when it comes to heart disease, diabetes and strokes. The majority of people could be *cured* of these with a healthy diet. Unless they have some sort of extreme predisposition of course. Even with my healthy results, my family still wont take any tips in improving their health.

  2. I thought the special was great showing the effects of a low fat raw vegan diet. Slowly but surely, this is becoming more widespread. After all, Dr. Oz was on Oprah talking about it.

Entertaining and persuasive. Though would have wished for more clarity about how the apes and humans interacted, if they did. I didn’t get the segment about running to the restroom – seemed to imply that raw veggies and fruits diet may cause extreme ‘regularity.’ Not my experience that this is problematical per se. ;)

I’m glad you all enjoyed it too. It is indeed impressive!

Matt, perhaps you could have your family view it or the Oprah spot. Kristen, do you know if the latter is available online? As you say, the increased publicity does give some hope.

Lewis, I bet they didn’t interact with the apes at all. Seemed to me they were just another “exhibit.” As for that scene, it doesn’t surprise me that going from a typical SAD diet straight to low-fat vegan raw, with its much higher levels of fiber, would affect them this way.

    Off topic, but…

Kasparov was on 60 minutes Sunday evening.

I figured a “chess dude” like yourself might be interested.

    Kasparov on 60 Minutes

    Cheers.

It would be interesting to get an itemized list of what they fed them and put them through CRON-o-Meter. I counted 6 tomatoes, 2 bananas, 7 tangerines, 3 figs (or plums), a box of berries, 2 bunches of broccoli, a melon, mushrooms, peanuts, and 2 carrots.
