Tal-Worthy Chess At The Memorial?

Saturday, August 23rd, 2008

The Tal Memorial in Moscow is just over the half-way mark and the players are taking a rest day. So far, the chess has been exciting. But I’m not sure about this draw ratio. Perhaps it’s a tad lower than usual at the highest level these days.

What do you think? Does that qualify as Tal-worthy? Anyone know the typical figures for tournaments, like this one, where the average rating exceeds 2700? (Category 20)

Well, if it wouldn’t receive Tal’s imprimatur, this game of the leader over the World Champion most likely would. And, it’s made all the more impressive by the fact that Kramnik had prepared a novelty with his 12…Ng6.

Serious chess. Serious fun!
